6 Ways to Increase your Site’s Ranking on Search Engines (SEO/SERP) 2023

Search Engine Optimization for Small Business

Here are a few ideas to improve your search SEO and increase your websites ranking on the search-engine results page (SERP).

  1. Publish Recent, Relevant, Authoritative Content

Quality, authoritative content is the number one driver on Google’s rankings. Simply put, there is no substitute for great content. This is especially true when you are doing SEO marketing. Quality content created specifically for your intended users increases site traffic, which improves your site’s authority and relevance. Fine-tune your web writing skills and present yourself as an authority on the topic you are writing about.

  1. Update Your Content Regularly

Content. Is. King. Regularly updated websites, content, blogs, and posts are seen as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy, so be sure to keep it fresh. Audit your content on a set schedule (weekly, for example) and make updates as needed.

Blogging: Writing additional content, rich with keyword phrases, on your blog page it can also boost your search engine rankings. Posting on Facebook-Twitter-Instagram-YouTube etc., can increase your search ranking but also increase your engagement with clients or potential clients.

  1. Metadata

When designing your website, always include the page or posts metadata. Basically the overview of what your content is about.

Title metadata It is the most important metadata on your page, try to use your most important keywords there, to help with your Google rankings.

Description metadata is the textual description that a browser may use in your page search return. Think of it as your site’s window display-a concise and appealing description of what is contained within, with the goal of encouraging people to enter. A good meta description will typically contain two to three sentences, rich with keywords. Search engines may not always use your meta description, but it is important to give them the option. Sometimes these appear as ‘snippets’ on Google searches, and can help lead to clicks.

  1. Have a link-worthy site

A webpage which is content-rich, authoritative, unbiased, will not only help your rankings on Google, but also attract links from other websites, which improves your search engine optimization (a lot). ‘Backlinks’ from other trusted websites, leads credibility to your sight. It is one of Google’s main factors in ranking on the SERP.

Improve your ranking by adding relevant links within the text. Instead of having blind “click here” links, use hyperlinks “ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlink ”  that show the user where they will go. In addition to letting the user know where the link takes them, it adds relevant keywords.

  1. Use alt tags or alternative text descriptions

Don’t forget to use the alt-tags to describe your website media (image, video, icon, etc.,). It is yet another way to help Google understand why your website is relevant to a user’s search.

  1. Keywords

Are the main ideas of what content you will provide. Identify the specific keyword phrase your users might be searching for on Google, and incorporate them into your website. Think about how users search on Google might search with search terms like:

  • online masters in digital marketing
  • how to delete hyperlinks in word?
  • what is the difference between a web designer and web developer?
  • how to grow cilantro
  • best pizza recipe
  • nearest bookstore near me
  • why do I need a website

After you have chosen the keywords and/or keyword phrase that are best for your product or service, think about how you can use them on your website naturally. In titles, subtitles, and text (H1, H2, H3).

It is important to be natural. Don’t just keep repeating “accounting” over and over. If “accounting” shows up too many times on the page, Google will think you are “stuffing” your website, and penalize you. Beyond page URL, title, and headings, content is most influential on search engine rankings. Repeat your keyword phrase a few times in the opening and closing paragraphs, and a few times throughout the remaining content. Also it is good to make both internal links to your websites assets but also to external links that are authoritative.

Do use bold, italics, and other emphasis tags to highlight these keywords phrases-but don’t overdo it. You still want your language and writing style to read naturally. Never sacrifice good writing for SEO.
